Anne of the Island (Anne of Green Gables, Book 3)
Anne of the Island
by Lucy Maud Montgomery is the third book in the Anne of Green Gables series
. Anne has been one of my favorite characters ever since I read the book in my eighth standard in school. This re-reading of the books which is very very unusual in my case. The only other books I remember reading more than once are Atlas Shrugged
and The Fountainhead
both by Ayn Rand.
In Anne of the Island, Anne goes off to Redmond for more studies. The book is all about her life in college, her occasional visit to Green Gables to see Marilla who adopted her and the twins - Davy and Dora, her friendship with Gilbert Blythe. I think Gilbert Blythe would be the second most admired fictitious romantic lover after Rhett Butler from Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
.
I absolute love this series; so do most of the women out there. I am actually waiting for my niece to grow up a bit more before I can gift her the Anne series. For all those who don't have much idea, Anne is adopted by Marilla and Mathew Cuthbert and comes to stay in Avonlea,Prince Edward Island, Canada. The Anne of the Green Gables series is all about Anne's life in Avonlea, her education, her love life, her marriage etc.
